To spread the message of Advaita Vedanta through different media like books, ebooks, CDs and Online reading.

A Quick introduction to Vedanta:

The world consists of two essential factors, namely, the Creator and the created. All Indian schools of philosophy believing in theism accept that the world has been created by an Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent eternal divine power called The God. The Vedas, the sacred texts of the Sanatana Dharmam (Hinduism), is the treasure house of the divine wisdom. The proclamations of the Vedas form the basis of valid means of knowledge (Pramaanam) in the Vedanta philosophy. This knowledge called Proof of Sound (Shabda) is considered superior to the Proof of Perception (Pratyaksham) and Proof of inference (Anumanam). The other proofs acceptable to the Advaitic philosophy are the Proof of Presumption (Arthaapatti) and Proof of Non-apprehension (Anupalabdhi).

The term Vedanta indicates the finality of the Vedic knowledge. Advaita philosophy as the name indicates proclaims the Non-dual nature of the One and the Only Being. The unsullied Supreme Being called "The Brahman", assumes as it were, the varieties of the Universe when seen from the plane of ignorance (Agyaanam). The eternal equation of the intrinsic substance of both the Creator and the Created forms the fundamental doctrine of Advaita Vedanta. This philosophy may be characterized as "transcendental phenomenology" and "metaphysics of experience".

The quintessence of Vedas, otherwise called the Vedantic thoughts contained in the Upanishads, also talk about the Supreme Being, as the cause of creation, sustenance and destruction while teaching from the standpoint of duality. In one of the Upanishads known as Isha Upanishad, it is said about the God (Ishvara):

Om. All this, whatsoever moves on the earth should be covered by the Lord, Isvara... (Isa Upanishad I.i)

Vedanta states that "In the beginning it was existence alone, one only without a second". "It deliberated to become many. It created the world". The very Upanishads declare /footer.phpthe Brahman to be changeless and everlasting. It is described as Existence (Sat), Intelligent (Chit) and Bliss (Aanandam).  If non-dual Sat or Brahman has to create the world of multiplicity and mutations, its cause could only be explained by introducing an element called ignorance or Maya or Avidya. This theory ensures the Transcendental or Absolute truth of the Non-dual nature of the Brahman while satisfying the Transactional truth of the mundane existence. Thus a cause and effect relationship is advocated between the Brahman and the world.

This Maya can neither be existent nor non-existent. Simultaneity of both is also ruled out. That is, if it were to exist, the non-dual nature of Brahman would not admit it. From the plane of ephemeral experience, the total absence of it is not acceptable. Differing experiences per se do not admit simultaneity, for, the presence of experience is not denied. Thus we are led to a conclusion about the nature of Maya as Indescribable (Anirvachaniyam). When Brahman is in association with this Maya, a concept called God takes over the assignment of creation of duality. However the God is not affected in the least because of this seeming association with the fallacious Maya and remains non-dual essentially.

Since the God alone is the existent principle, he has to be the material cause (Upaadaana kaaranam) of this manifested duality. Being the only sentient entity, he must be the efficient cause (Nimitta Kaaranam) as well.  For his purpose of creation, Maya remains as his power and this Maya is actually getting transformed into manifested duality. This manifestation may be in the form of concept, physical, psychological, subtle or gross. As Maya is dependent on the non-dual Brahman for its existence, it has to be insentient and has to be under the control of the Lord. Hence, in the creation of the world of duality the Lord has to be present in every bit of the creation as its existence, knowledge (in the form of knower and known), etc.

Hence the Isa Upanishad declares that everything that moves on the earth should be covered by the Lord. The word 'move' impliedly denotes the entire duality. That is, whatever that is available in the duality, whether it is a concept or a physical object or psychological aspect or subtle experience or gross body etc., is covered by the Lord. In other words, the Lord gives the existence to everything. It implies that, nothing in this world should be kept for oneself without sharing.

Everything in this world is meant for distribution. The sunlight, wind, water and other elements and objects of Nature are meant for everyone. No individual can keep them stored for oneself and the distribution is automatic. Similarly, any form of knowledge also cannot be kept for oneself. Even if one tries to keep one's knowledge secretly, that may become unmanifest on his death, but it is sure to re-manifest at the appropriate time by the will of the Lord. In the process one might have lost the opportunity of taking an effective part in the distribution of the knowledge so blessed on him. Be it that way, the Lord has got numerous ways of distribution. Similar is the case with money. Thus the entire world of duality covered by the Lord has its own network of distribution.

In this context of distribution of knowledge, it is thought to open up a website namely, VedanticBooks.com. It is to spread the message of Vedanta to every possible human being, whoever comes across the website.  The e-books presented in the site are of immense value in getting the enlightenment intended for the sincere aspirant after liberation. The books present the evanescence of ephemeral existence while elucidating the essential outlook needed to lead oneself to the everlasting bliss.

Hence it is hoped that the readers browsing through this website will get benefited by buying the books and making their friends, relatives and other people known to them too to get benefited the same way.
