Our books were reviewed in Tapovan Prasad - Central Chinmaya Mission Trust - Spiritual Monthly of Chinmaya Mission Worldwide. The publication is Vol. 45 No. 3.
This e-book deals with the salient aspects of 'Economics and Vedanta', placing them on a common platform. It is a bold attempt, considering the fact that economics deals only with materialistic aspects, while Vedanta is more about pure spirituality. However, both are concerned with the human need for happiness. In this book, it is shown that economics does not give a lasting solution to this quest for happiness, though peicemeal solutions are offered. The book deals with the fundamental conepts of economics, offering a method of complementing the subject with Vedanta to provide lasting and meaningful solutions to the human predicament.
Since the subject of economics is not dealt with too technically, the book lends itself to all types of readers, including those who may not be too interested in economics per se. It makes for easy reading, as against the first impression created by this title.
This again is an interesting book that presents Vedanta as a management guide. The book gives an overview of the various approaches to management and explores how, even while studying the various aspects of modern management like production, administration etc., one can also do an in-depth study of how Vedanta forms the guide to management.
While the subject is not new, because value-based management accommodates a vast arena of related topics, this book brings to it the in-depth knowledge of the author in the field of Vedanta. One aspect which makes the book different from many others in this field is that the author's views have been presented candidly without any tortuous attempt to tailor them to suit modern management terminology or styles of expression.
